Star Anise (50g)
50g of Whole star anise. Our star anise is sourced from China. Add Star Anise to curries- it imparts a beautiful aniseed aroma and taste. Whether making your curry or using a shop bought curry sauce try adding a couple of star anise and a piece of cinnamon. The essential oils in the star anise will impart additional layers of flavour and aroma- especially if the curry is left to stand.
Star anise is also one of the spices used by the Chinese in creating 5 Spice powder.
Star Anise can also be used creatively in Italian cooking: for example if making a tomato sauce for a pizza or spaghetti, add a star anise for a subtle additional layer of aniseed flavour.
